Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief stint as a folk musician and was his debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff was credited with Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the song, but Denver recognized that the song could turn into a hit once it was discovered that an earlier version.
